Is there a way to add actions to <button> html? I am trying the following but it doesn't seem to be working.

<button {ACTION,0,addEvent,,M}>My Button Text</button>

Sure, the Button syntax will require the onClick attribute, rather than HREF. First you must override the HREF rendering, so it just renders the javascript call. To do this, you need to pass False as the Optional Render HREF parameter (as defined in the doc). Now, with that set, you will have the statement rendered as the doPostBack, which is fine, but needs to be wrapped within the onClick as follows:

<button onClick="{ACTION,0,addEvent,,M,False}">My Button Text</button>

Let me know if this fails to resolve your issue
