03/05/2008 12:55 AM Alert
We are using DNN 4.6.2 and ListX 1.9.9.4. At some point, Ajax stopped working in all modules except ListX. Not sure when or why. I've asked about this problem in the Dotnetnuke.com forum, but haven't had any response to the issue there, hoping someone here might know where to start.

Basically, we noticed the problem when trying to set up the FAQ module. It works fine with Ajax on local host, but on the live web Ajax no longer works - it will show "loading" but never actually load or fetch the data. Again, it works fine locally. I've reinstalled the module, checked the web.config, poked and snooped at things, but come up shrugging my shoulders. Ajax also stopped working in our Catalook.net store module, and again, it was working just fine before. Catalook will also show the "loading" "fetching data" type messages, but it just stalls there and never actually loads the data or processes the postback.

ListX on the other hand works like a charm, handles and completes all Ajax functions, etc. We hadn't upgraded DNN to cause any issues. We did physically move to a new server. I'm not sure if something got tweaked during the move/restore to the new web host or what. But, ListX has had no problems through all that. I guess I'm wondering if it was the move that caused the issue or if ListX could have tweaked any settings in DNN 4.6.2 that would have caused Ajax to stop working in the other modules, some kind of conflict?

There are no error messages, no errors logged in the event log, Ajax just doesn't work except for ListX modules. I have no clue where to look further for the possible causes of the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

is the scriptmanager and other AJAX related sections in <httphandlers> of the web.config enabled?

ListX....makes you look brilliant, even though you're not.

Hello rickwp,
Are you receiving any Ajax related errors in the debugger? (listx set to debug mode)
Thanks,

Robert Chumley

Ajax appears to be enabled - it does say validate=false in the Ajax section, is that the correct setting? Also, we have PageBlaster installed but it is set to exclude .axd .asxh and .asmx, and we have white space compression set to off in DNN and PageBlaster. No errors reported by ListX. No errors reported by anything. That's what seems so odd.

Just for the heck of it I disabled PageBlaster and Ajax is now functioning normally. It isn't installed locally so that's why the local install didn't have a problem. I'll have to figure out what else I need to exclude in PageBlaster for those other modules to work properly. Thought the extensions that were in there already did excluded everything necessary, but apparently not... I thought other people were using PageBlaster with no effect on Ajax. Well, obviously it doesn't effect ListX but it does effect the FAQ module and Catalook.net Store modules that use Ajax.

Thanks for the help,
Rick
