Websites containing large amounts of data, or heavy load times have come across a peculiar problem with our friends at Microsoft. Internet Explorer (all versions) has an apparent problem with the timing of the load of the SolPartMenu. If a user hovers over the items or sub items of a the SolPartMenu before the page has completely loaded - the user will be greeted with a friendly "Operation Aborted" error. This is due to a bug in IE which is thrown when javascript attempts to add elements to a page which has not yet been completely loaded. So - how can this be corrected? SolPart has an undocumented feature for forcing the Menu to delay loading of the items until the page has completed loading. Meaning - it will render the root elements, but no expansion will yet occur. This can be set either in the skin XML file, or in the physical dnn:SOLPARTMENU tag in the skin.

To correct the issue do the following -

Modify the skin.ascx page - in the dnn:SOLPARTMENU tag - add the attribute delaySubmenuLoad="1".

***In the version released with DNN3 - it appears that the value should be "true" rather than "1".***

Happy Nuking!
